Swift vs Object-c

After I got a Macbook air, I have a lot of interests in developing iOS applications. However, you know, in this year's WWDC there was a notice about Swift which will be an alternative programming language for iOS and MacOS X. Because of that, I am reluctant to start studying Object-c. Obviously studying several programming languages would be helpful for me, but nowadays I am busy for applying my transfer to UC Berkeley. In your case, what would you do?
